Obituary:Dale W. “Robby” Robertson, Jr., age 58, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at The House of Dove Hospice Home in Marshfield, WI. Robby was born February 5, 1955, at the United States Air Force Base in Landstuhl, Germany.
He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School, Rhinelander Union High School, and successfully completed a culinary arts program at Nicolet Technical College. Robby worked for many years at Triumph Twist Drill in Rhinelander. Following a move to Eau Claire, he lived and worked at the Hope Gospel Mission.
One of Robby’s greatest pleasures was spending time in the Northwoods. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman all his life. One of the happiest events in his life was when he became “Grandpa Robby” to his beloved grandson, Dalton.
In July of 2011, he suffered a stroke and moved to Golden Living Center-Riverview in Tomahawk. In spite of his health challenges, Robby made many friends among the residents, staff and visitors. His sense of humor and his excitement when he was bingo winner brightened many lives. It was fitting that his room faced the Wisconsin River; this gave him the joy of watching wildlife and human activities along the shore and in the water.
Robby is survived by his Mother, Lorraine Robertson of Rhinelander,
his Daughter, Elizabeth McCarty, and 2 Step-Sons, Jason (Jenny) Kurth all of Rhinelander, and Steve Kurth of Madison, 2 Sisters, Peggy Weston of Anchorage, Alaska, and Susan Peterson of Janesville, WI, Grandson, Dalton McCarty, Step-Grandchildren, Trenton, Mikayla, Christian, Andrew and Samantha.
In addition, he leaves behind many good friends from the time spent in Eau Claire and at Riverview. He will be missed. Robby was preceded in death by his father, Dale W. Robertson, Sr., and his wife, Roberta Robertson.
A Celebration of Life Service for Dale “Robby” Robertson will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 3 PM from the First United Methodist Church in Rhinelander.
